The first confirmed record of the Pink-backed Pelican (Pelecanus rufescens Gmelin, 1789) in Algeria

Santrauka On 4 February 2025, a single individual of the Pink-backed Pelican (Pelecanus rufescens) was observed at the Hammam Grouz dam, Milla region, located in eastern Algeria. This marks the first confirmed sighting of this species in the country. The presence of this species in Algeria is noteworthy, as it is typically found in sub-Saharan Africa. This observation may indicate a case of vagrancy, possibly influenced by environmental factors.
